Seven arrests as gardaí swoop on cannabis grow houses in Wexford

The six separate searches this morning yielded hauls of over €78,000 worth of cannabis in addition to €50,000 of speed.

GARDAÍ TARGETING DRUGS gangs have arrested a total of six men and one in woman after a number of separate searches in Co. Wexford this morning.

As part of ‘Operation Serpentine’ into the cultivation, distribution, and sale of controlled substances in the south-east, Gardaí seized over €78,000 worth of cannabis along with €50,000 of speed in six separate searches.

Gardaí entered premises in Dunmaine, Foulksmills, Campile, Ramsgrange and New Ross with those arrested ranging in age from mid 20s to early 60′s.

A quantity of cocaine was also seized in one of the searches with items relating to drug cultivation discovered in several of the houses.

At one of the houses searched at Grange Road, New Ross a male was arrested as 1kg of cannabis herb was found alongside  3.5kg of speed.

The search at Ramsgrange uncovered a grow house with €40,000 of harvested of cannabis herb.

A second grow house was unearthed at Campile Co Wexford  containing €18,000 of the same drug.

The Wexford gardaí undertaking the operation were supported by units from a number of different counties with customs officials based in Waterford also involved.

This operation in the south-east is part of the nationwide anti-drug plan ‘Operation Nitrogen’.
