Gardaí investigating graffiti on US plane at Shannon

The aircraft was targeted while parked on a runway at Shannon Airport.

GARDAÍ IN SHANNON are investigating an incident of criminal damage to a US aircraft at Shannon Airport.

Graffiti was sprayed on the plane sometime between Monday, 19 December and Wednesday, 21 December, Gardaí told TheJournal.ie today.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport also confirmed that there was an incident earlier this week involving a aircraft parked on a remote stand.

However, he said it would be “inappropriate to make any further comment” as a full investigation is underway.

The Irish Independent has reported that the plane is associated with the US military. The presence of US planes and troops at Shannon, which is used as a stopover, has caused controversy since the US invaded Iraq in 2003.
