WITH TWO WEEKS to go to polling day, the general election campaign resumes in full today following yesterday’s pause after the Cork air disaster.

Labour and the Green Party will both unveil their full manifestos today, ahead of the second full weekend of campaigning, with Labour’s manifesto – being unveiled at the Aviva Stadium – likely to comprehensively wrap together the party’s previous policy documents.

The Green Party’s plan, also being launched this morning, is believed to adopt many of the programmes outlined in the outgoing government’s Four Year Plan as well as other long-term policy positions adopted by the party.

Following Labour’s launch, Eamon Gilmore will spend the afternoon canvassing in Mullingar.

Fianna Fáíl, meanwhile, will launch its health policy at its election HQ in Dublin, with party leader Micheál Martin and health spokesman Barry Andrews outlining the party’s platform.

Details on a health policy had been conspicuously absent from Fianna Fáil’s main policy document last week, though the omission of a health policy is now understood to have been due to the relatively recent appoint of Andrews to the front bench.

Fine Gael, meanwhile, will unveil its plans for small businesses at a bakery on Dublin’s Thomas Street, with its enterprise spokesman being joined by the party’s Dublin candidates for a photo opportunity.

The party’s leader Enda Kenny will continue his nationwide tour, spending the morning in Co Wexford before later moving to Waterford City, Dungarvan and Clonmel.

The United Left Alliance are also expected to launch a policy document this morning, while Sinn Féin’s Aengus Ó Snodaigh is launching a ‘Fair Play for Taxi Drivers’ document.
