Man arrested over Phoenix Park killing is released without charge

Gerard Donnelly’s body was discovered in the park in the early hours of 29 November. He had been burned to death.

GARDAÍ SAY A man arrested yesterday morning in connection with the death of a man in the Phoenix Park last November has been released without charge.

The 20-year-old was picked up yesterday in the north inner city and held for questioning at Finglas Garda Station, before being released last night.

A file on his case is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The body of Gerard Donnelly was discovered in the park in the early hours of 29 November last. He had been burned to death. It’s believed the victim was sleeping rough in the area.

Another man has been charged and is before the courts in connection with the case.
