A German pilot was stuck up a tree all night after a crash-landing

Rescuers were afraid moving him would cause the plane to dislodge and crash to the ground.

Germany Small Plane Crash The wreckage of the aircraft stuck in a tree AP AP

THE PILOT OF an ultralight aircraft in Germany spent more than 12 hours stuck up a tree last night, as rescuers were unable to reach him.

Police in Baden-Wuerttemberg said the unidentified man crash-landed in the tree about 30km east of Stuttgart.

Attempts to bring the man down from his lofty perch 30 metres above ground had to be abandoned. There was a risk that the plane and its pilot might be dislodged and fall to the ground, police said.

The 59-year-old was eventually rescued unharmed this morning.
