Man killed in late night crash was off-duty garda

The officer was posted at Newtownmountkennedy in Co Wicklow.

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED that a man who died in a crash in Co Wexford late last night was an off-duty member of the force.

The garda – aged in his 30s – was the driver and sole occupant of the car.

The crashed vehicle was discovered by a passing motorist at 11.40pm last night at Wells, near Gorey.

The driver was then removed to Wexford General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Forensic tests are being carried out at the scene.

The officer was posted at Newtownmountkennedy in Co Wicklow.
