A large gorse fire has broken out on the Dublin Mountains this evening

The blaze started at around 6pm this evening.

A MASSIVE FIRE has broken out in the Dublin Mountains this evening as fire officers attempt to put it out.

Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) said the gorse fire started near the Tibradden area which is close to the Dublin/Wicklow border. At least three fire engines have been sent to the area.

Photographs have been posted on social media which suggest the blaze can be seen from as far away as Stillorgan in south Dublin.

DFB said they are currently trying to access the location of the fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade warned that they expect the strong wind to carry the smell of smoke from the Dublin mountains gorse fire. They urged anyone worried about inhalation to close their windows.
