A simple mistake can cause massive gorse fires like this

The fire brigade has been battling blazes in Howth and Killiney for the last few weeks.

DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE’S Chief Fire Officer has asked the public to take extra care this summer to avoid starting gorse fires, as firefighters continue to battle blazes in Howth and Killiney.

Ireland’s Eye has been badly scorched by fires in the last few weeks and the fire brigade yesterday issued a number of tips in the hope of preventing more of the same during these hot summer days.

The fire service has also asked that people only use designated barbecue points and report any illegal or suspicious activity to gardaí.
