Greek parliament passes motion of confidence in Papandreou

THE GREEK PARLIAMENT has passed a vote of confidence in the government of George Papandreou. In a vote that concluded at nearly 1am local time, Papandreou was supported by 155 votes to 143. The Greek premier can now continue with his plans to try and pass a new batch of austerity measures that are needed before Greece can accept a second bailout.
