Motorist injured after Garda pursuit ends in car crash in Dublin

GSOC have been called to the scene.

THE GARDA OMBUDSMAN Commission (GSOC) is investigating an incident in Palmerstown, West Dublin earlier today, when a car being pursued by Gardaí crashed into another vehicle.

It is understood that the driver of the second car was brought to hospital with their injuries, while Gardaí pursued a suspect on foot on the Kennelsfort Road in Palmerstown, Dublin 20.

A spokesperson for GSOC told TheJournal.ie they received a referral regarding the incident at around 1pm this afternoon.

Subsequent to that, their officers were dispatched to the scene, which is routine practice in the case of a collision where Garda involvement is suspected.

It’s understood that the suspect in the incident was apprehended on foot by Gardaí.

The Kennelsfort Road was closed for a few hours this afternoon, before re-opening at around 3.30 pm.
