Five men, two women arrested in connection with sexual assault of young girl

The seven people are being held across south Dublin.

SEVEN PEOPLE, TWO women and five men, have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a girl.

Gardaí in Sundrive Road, Crumlin, have arrested five men and two woman this morning as part of an ongoing investigation.

The case revolves around an alleged serious sexual assault of a female child.

The arrests were carried out early this morning in both Dublin and Wexford.

The two women are aged in their 40s and the five men range in ages from 19 to 47.

They are currently being detained in a number of stations in the south Dublin area, under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984, and can be held for up to 24 hours.

Gardaí say that there are no further details available.
