12-year-old boy arrested over death of man attacked with guitar

41-year-old Matthew Goddard was attacked at his home on Christmas Eve.

THE PSNI HAS confirmed the arrest of a 12-year-old boy by officers investigating the death of a man who was beaten with his own electric guitar at his east Belfast home.

41-year-old Matthew Goddard was attacked on Christmas Eve at 9.40pm in the Chobham Street area of the city.

Two people — 21-year-old man and 24-year-old woman — arrested yesterday remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector John McVea confirmed that a 12-year-old boy and a 17-year-old male had also been arrested, following searches in the area today.

They’ve have been taken to the Musgrave Custody Suite where they are “helping police with their enquiries,” according to a statement.

Searches are ongoing in the area, according to investigators.
