Two men arrested and handgun seized in Dublin city centre

The men were arrested following a routine traffic stop in the north inner city last at about 10pm last night.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested and a handgun seized following an incident in Dublin city centre last night.

The two men, both aged in their 20s, were arrested at about 10pm following a routine traffic stop at North Strand. A car was also seized during the operation.

While carrying out the checkpoint, gardaí became suspicious of car in the area which was subsequently stopped and searched.

This led to the search of another car nearby from which a handgun was recovered.

The two men are currently being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing.
