Shatter: Judge found guilty of deception to resign

Minister for Justice Alan Shatter TD confirmed that Judge Heather Perrin has conveyed her resignation. It comes as she awaits sentencing for deception.

DISTRICT JUDGE HEATHER Perrin is to resign, it was confirmed this evening.

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter TD, confirmed that at 7.30pm District Judge Heather Perrin conveyed her resignation to An Taoiseach Enda Kenny for onward transmission to the President.

He noted that this is in accordance with the requirements of section 6 (2) of the Courts (Establishment and Constitution) Act 1961.

He said he will be making no further comment on this matter prior to the court finalising Judge Perrin’s case by sentencing on Wednesday 28 November.

She was found guilty of deception last week, RTÉ reports, after inducing an elderly client to leave half of his estate to her own two children.

Perrin was appointed a judge after this deception took place.
