Met Eireann issues yellow alert as heavy fog hits the country

Take care on the roads this morning.

MOTORISTS HAVE BEEN urged to take care on the roads this morning as a heavy fog has descended across the country.

Met Éireann has issued a yellow alert for every single county which is in place until 11am.

The alert says that the widespread mist and dense fog will produce “hazardous driving conditions” and will not clear until later this morning.

The fog is particularly dense across Leinster and Ulster.

Yellow alert

AA Roadwatch said thick fog is affecting visibility on the M1 Dublin to Belfast road and around Cavan town.

Met Éireann has said the mist and fog is likely to return tonight and early tomorrow morning.
