Hippo escapes from circus, takes a stroll down busy Spanish street

Police and circus staff managed to coax the animal back to its enclosure.

A HIPPOPOTAMUS ESCAPED from a circus in Spain last night and stopped traffic when it decided to take a leisurely stroll down a busy street.

Footage emerged online of the large animal blocking traffic in the town of Palos de la Frontera.

Spanish publication La Razon reports no one was injured in the incident.

Police and circus staff managed to coax the hippo back into its enclosure shortly after its break for freedom.
