Man due in court over hit and run that left pedestrian seriously injured

A car has also been seized as part of the investigation.

A MAN IN his 20s is due before court this morning in connection with a hit and run that left a pedestrian in a serious condition in hospital.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at Magheraboy Upper in Finnea — a village in Westmeath on the border with Cavan.

The victim, who is aged 38, was admitted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for treatment.

A man has been held for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Cavan Garda Station, since Wednesday night.

He’s expected to appear before a sitting of Virginia District Court later.

A car has also been seized as part of the investigation.
