Honda's new family-friendly saloon will land in Ireland in time for 182

The Civic Sedan has a boot that’s 100 litres larger than the Civic Hatchback.

IRELAND’S LOVE OF the saloon is greater than most other countries in Europe, so drivers here will be pleased to note that Honda is adding its Sedan version to the Civic range.

The four-door Civic Sedan is due to arrive in late July, just after the 182 registration period begins.

Exact specification details are still to be finalised but they are expected to closely match those of the Civic Hatchback. Just like the five-door Hatchback, the Civic Sedan will feature safety and driver assistance technology.

On the petrol engine front, there’ll be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder option, and buyers will have the choice of a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Diesel buyers will get a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, with six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of storage space, the Sedan’s boot is around 100 litres bigger than that of the Hatchback, at 519 litres.

Unlike the hatch, there isn’t a fire-breathing Type R version of the Civic Sedan, but prospective buyers of this model are unlikely to be as bothered about that fact.
