Poll: How much of a deposit should house-buyers need?

The Taoiseach could be getting involved, but is he right to?

THE CENTRAL BANK recently announced that it is planning new rules around how much a home owner will need in a deposit.

Effectively, the rules mean the majority of home buyers will need a 20% deposit, as opposed to the customary 10%.

Reports today suggest that Taoiseach Enda Kenny is planning a work-around for this plan, however. The Taoiseach’s intervention would allow people to pay a 10% deposit.

But how much should people pay?

We’re asking: How much of a deposit should house-buyers need?

Poll Results:

10-15% (3609)
5-10% (2411)
15-20% (1574)
0-5% (450)
Over 21% (395)
