Housing minister Michael Finneran to step down at next election

THE NUMBER of current TDs who will not contest the next election has risen to 22, on the news that Fianna Fáil’s housing junior minister Michael Finneran is to step down at the next election. Finneran, a TD for Roscommon-South Leitrim since 2002, had been a member of the Seanad since 1989 and was made a junior minister by Brian Cowen in the 2008 cabinet reshuffle.
