Fire service fights large gorse blaze on Howth Hill

There are five units of the fire brigade on the scene dealing with the situation.

THE FIRE SERVICE is battling  a large gorse fire on Howth Hill in Dublin.

A spokesperson from the Dublin Fire Brigade said a gorse fire had broken out in the area and that five units are currently attending the scene.

The fire has been spreading, but so far no houses are being threatened.

However, there is the possibility that could change due to weather conditions.

Locals are being advised to leave their homes if the fire gets anywhere near them.

It is understood a number of homes in the Green Hollow area have been evacuated due to a fire and smoke risk.
