THE HSE PAID out more than €45 million in negligence claims last year according to new figures from the State Claims Agency (SCA).

The figures published in the Medical Independent show that a total of €45.8 million was paid in damages to patients who sustained injuries in Health Service Executive hospitals.

The publication previously disclosed that €1.3 million was paid out to HSE employees injured at work.
