IKEA issues immediate recall of children's high chair belt

The furniture chain says that the belt on some of its Antilop high chairs can open unexpectedly.

THE INTERNATIONAL furniture retailer IKEA has issued an immediate product recall notice for a line of its children’s high chairs, warning that the safety belt can open suddenly.

It says that any customers who have bought the Antilop high chair marked from supplier #17389 and with the production date 0607-0911 (YYMM) should contact IKEA customer relations on 1890 876 707 (open from 9am to 8pm) or drop in to the store.

The details are printed on the main body of the chair, which comes in white, red and blue.

The company says it has received eight reports of the belt opening and three of children receiving minor injuries in a fall from the chair.

It says that no other high chairs are affected by this recall.
