IKEA recalls glass mug over safety fears

The home products company has recalled a glass mug after complains and reports of injury.

IKEA HAS RECALLED a glass mug on sale in Ireland over safety fears, and has asked customers to return the item for a full refund.

The RUND glass mug, which can be bought in a 2-pack or a 4-pack, has been recalled after IKEA received 12 complaints worldwide in relation to the product. Five of the complaints state that an injury was involved.

In a statement, the company said it had launched an investigation into the matter after receiving reports of glass breakage; this revealed that there were variations in glass thickness which made it unsafe.

The company has apologised for inconvenience to customers and asks people seeking more information to call 0845 358 3364.
