In pictures: Six weeks on, Priory Hall is a ghost town

It’s been almost two months since the residents of the Priory Hall in Donaghmede were told to abandon their homes – and here’s what the apartment complex looks like now.

It was six weeks ago today that residents of Priory Hall were told that they’d have to evacuate their homes due to fire safety concerns.

Since then, the occupants of the 187 units in the Donaghmede apartment complex have been stuck in a legal no-mans-land.

Dublin City Council, who told the residents that they would have to leave, says that it doesn’t have the money to provide alternative accommodation for the residents. The developers who built the complex say the same thing.

A battle is currently being waged in the Supreme Court over who exactly has responsibility to house the families who were evacuated from their homes so abruptly.

Meanwhile residents are stuck not knowing where they’re going to be living this Christmas – or what will happen to those of them who have mortgages on properties in the apartment complex.

These photographs show the eeriness of the complex – deserted aside from the security guards who patrol the site.
