In pictures: The Titanic launching from Southampton 10 April, 1912

These pictures record the grandeur of the Titanic on the day it began its tragic maiden voyage exactly 100 years ago today.

THIS DAY EXACTLY 100 years ago, excited passengers and crew members of the Titanic sailed out of Southampton in England on the ship’s maiden and, sadly, final voyage.

This was the scene at Southampton – and these photographs from the PA Images archive (from Topham Picturepoint unless otherwise indicated) show the grandeur and luxury that greeted some of the passengers when they boarded the ship.
