Man dies after being overcome by fumes in industrial accident

Gardaí are investigating the incident.

A 33-YEAR-OLD man has died in an industrial accident in Co Wexford.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which occurred at Foulksmills, New Ross at around 12.30pm today.

Gardaí said the man was working at a grain store tank and appears to have been overcome by fumes.

Medical assistance was administered, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified.

    RIP. Still no one seems to want to talk about these unnecessary deaths.So we just wait on the next.

    An industrial accident is not an “accident” in a true sense. It may be unintended but that does not make it a complete fortuity. Human agency is involved.

    @Fiona deFreyne: which is what a lot of people refuse to think about. True workplace accidents (when all health and safety protocols have been followed) are pretty rare.

    Another silo accident unreal, sad. There was one in Monaghan only last week where the young guy was saving his friends and passed away. The build up of fumes carbon dioxide is deadly you only have seconds.
