Investigation continues into Tallaght stabbing as victim named

John Murdoch, 23, was stabbed after he became involved in an altercation with a group on the Cushlawn Dale estate.

GARDAÍ SAY NO arrests have been made in the investigation into the stabbing of a 23-year-old man, as attempts are made to identify the attacker.

A Garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that the dead man has not been officially named and that the investigation is ongoing. However the victim has been named locally as 23-year-old John Murdoch. He was stabbed to death after a night socialising with friends.

It’s understood that he and a friend met a group of three men in the Cushlawn Dale estate area in Tallaght in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Sunday World a “slagging match” ensued which escalated into a physical altercation. It’s believed Murdoch was stabbed in the chest. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Tallaght Hospital.

A car was removed from close to the scene as part of Garda investigations while the Sunday Independent details local reports that Gardaí want to speak to people who were attending a party nearby who may have witnessed the incident.
