WITH THE INTERNATIONAL image of Ireland taking a battering in economic circles in the past while, it’s nice to know we’re still considered to be good at something.
It’s not exactly exhaustive but the Lonely Planet travel guide company has canvassed the opinions of their Facebook fans to find the world’s sexiest accents. The Irish way with words is ranked the third most sexy in the world. Only the French and the Spanish, who take second and first place respectively, beat us for our silver-tongued prowess.
Lonely Planet says that the Spanish top place ranking could be down to the fact that its “regional variations (Colombian and Mexican Spanish were big factors in the win)” could have slightly skewed the results.
We don’t care though – at least we’re ahead of most of the EU in one arena in 2011.
