Here are the winners of the 2018 Irish Car of the Year awards

Peugeot 3008 crowned 2018 Irish Car of the Year.

THE PEUGEOT 3008 has been voted the 2018 Irish Car of the Year. The announcement was made at the awards ceremony held in the Gibson Hotel in Dublin earlier this month. The 3008 saw off eight other category winners to take home the top honours.

The Peugeot 3008 also won the accolade of Irish Compact Crossover of the Year, at the ceremony sponsored by Continental Tyres.

The 3008 arrived on our shores in March and such is the demand for the compact crossover that it has become the best-selling Peugeot car model in 2017. The Irish Car of the Year 2018 award is the 34th international award bestowed upon the 3008.

Alfa Romeo also took home two awards as its Giulia saloon took the gong for the Irish Medium Car of the Year 2018, and the Giulia Quadrifoglio topped the Irish Performance / Sports Car of the Year category. See what we think of the Alfa Romeo Giulia in our review.

Honda was another manufacturer that took home two awards with its new Civic winning not only Irish Compact Car of the Year but the Irish Car of the Year Innovation award, too.

The innovation award highlights the many technologies and systems that car makers are integrating in new models, which help improve road safety and makes cars more intelligent as the dawn of autonomous driving comes ever closer. Honda won this award for its suite of safety features called Honda Sensing, which includes Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, amongst others.
