IRISH WATER IS warning customers not to click links in an email purporting to be from the company.
Customers have received an email in recent days advising them that there is account maintenance underway and they have to log in through the email.
This, however, is a phishing email.
The company confirmed via Twitter today that it had not sent any emails requesting personal details.
Irish Water has been used as a front for these emails before.
They come from noreply.notification.water.ie@ospcs.com, mailer@elasticemail.com and possibly other email addresses.
Irish Water is advising anyone who receives these emails to delete them immediately. Do not reply or click on the link provided and do not provide any personal or financial details.
If you receive a suspicious mail like this, it’s recommended you check the sender and don’t click on any links. Only hover over the links to see where they lead to so you don’t get caught out.
It’s also recommended you compare it with previous mails you’ve received from the official source as there will usually be some differences between them.
