Lots of people are expected at Jackie Healy-Rae's funeral today

He will be laid to rest in Kilgarvan this afternoon.

FORMER SOUTH KERRY TD Jackie Healy Rae, who died on Friday, will be laid to rest today.

The funeral will take place in Kilgarvan, with large crowds expected to attend.

Healy-Rae has been lying in repose at Healy-Rae’s bar on the Main Street in Kilgarvan, with rosaries taking place over the weekend.

His funeral mass will be held at St Patrick’s Church in Kilgarvan at 12 noon, and Jackie will be buried afterwards in the local cemetery.

The 83-year-old died at Kerry General Hospital in Tralee just after 1.30pm on Friday. It is believed he was suffering from a long-term illness.

AA Roadwatch has warned people to expect delays in Kilgarvan due to the large crowds paying their respects to Healy-Rae:
