Wife and father-in-law of Jason Corbett charged over his death

The 39-year-old Irishman died of fatal head injuries he sustained in a domestic incident.

THE WIFE AND father-in-law of an Irishman who was killed in North Carolina last year have been charged over his death.

According to local reports, Davidson County Assistant District Attorney Greg Brown confirmed both Molly Martens Corbett and her father Thomas Michael Martens had been charged with second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

The 39-year-old Irishman died of fatal head injuries he sustained in a domestic incident at his home in August last year. Shortly after the incident, police had said they were not looking for any suspects outside the home.

He was the father of two children, aged 11 and eight. Following his death, there was a custody battle between his family in Ireland and his wife. Custody of the two children was handed over to Corbett’s sister Tracey and her husband.

Court dates for Molly Martens Corbett and her father have not yet been announced.
