Body of missing 79-year-old man discovered in Sligo

The circumstances of his death are not suspicious.

THE BODY OF a 79-year-old man who had gone missing last week has been found in Sligo.

Jimmy Scanlon had gone missing from Sligo town last Tuesday morning. Family and friends were concerned for the elderly man’s welfare and an appeal for information was launched by gardaí.

This evening they confirmed the man’s body was found shortly after midday today. There are no suspicious circumstances.

Gardaí thanked the public for their assistance.
