Good news for Waterford: 74 new jobs announced, 56 jobs retained

The jobs will be customer service positions.

OVER 70 NEW jobs have been announced for Waterford.

Mobile network Three Ireland and Tech Mahindra, a specialist in digital transformation, consulting and business re-engineering, today announced that they are partnering to open a customer service centre in Waterford, creating 74 new positions.

Additionally, the move will give 56 staff who had been providing support for Three the chance to keep their jobs.

Tech Mahindra currently provides customer care services for Three’s consumer customers as well as various back office services.

The Indian-headquartered company were the winners of a tender process to consolidate the third party contact centre services separately provided to Three and O2 into one Ireland-based provider. The new customer service centre will become operational early in 2015 and recruitment is already under way.

Robert Finnegan, CEO, Three Ireland said the move will bring valuable jobs to Waterford.

“This announcement will enhance Three’s customer service operations and bring valuable jobs to the Waterford area. We have already announced an additional 90 full time positions at the Three Customer Care centre in Limerick, bringing the total employees there to 440. ”

“Ireland is an important market and the investment in Waterford holds strategic importance for us,” said Sujit Baksi, Chief Executive of Tech Mahindra..
