Gardaí appeal for information following fatal stabbing at Ormond Square

John Maguire was stabbed in the neck and back at his home in Dublin.

FOLLOWING A FATAL stabbing incident yesterday gardaí are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the Ormond Square area yesterday.

John Maguire, aged 51-years-old, died after he was attacked at his home in Ormond Square, Dublin 7.

Gardaí at the Bridewell in Dublin received a 999 call at approximately 2.30pm yesterday.

Multiple stab wounds

Mr Maguire was found to have severe stab wounds to the neck and back. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3pm.

The body was moved to the City Morgue in Marino and a full post mortem examination will be carried out at 10am this morning.

A Garda family liaison officer has been appointed to the family. Mr Maguire had lived in the area for over ten years.

Information appeal

Investigating gardaí are appealing for information in relation to this incident and they are particularly anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the general area of Ormond Square from 7.30am yesterday morning.
