AFTER FIVE YEARS, the John Murray Show bid farewell to Irish radio today.

Murray’s run in the hour after Morning Ireland ended at 10am today, with Brendan O’Connor set to take the reins from Monday.

RTÉ says that Murray will return to RTÉ Radio 1 in the autumn in a “brand new role”, but has yet to confirm what that is or who will take over the slot long-term.

Murray returned to the slot in November 2013 after battling depression for six months, candidly telling his story.

Today, RTÉ released this montage clip, which features some of the highlights from the show’s run, including interviews with guests as diverse as Bertie Ahern, Victoria Beckham and Jedward.
