Gardaí investigating death of 11-month-old baby boy in Kerry apartment

A man also been taken to hospital.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING the death of an 11-month old baby boy in Co Kerry this evening.

The death occurred after gardaí were called to an incident at an apartment on Upper High Street in Killarney shortly before 6pm.

Gardaí say that the baby boy was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but died a short time later.

A man in his 30s who had serious injuries was also taken from the scene by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee.

The baby’s remains are still at the apartment and the scene has been preserved.

A preliminary examination is due to be carried out by Dr Bolster from the Office of the State Pathologist later this evening.

Gardaí have no further details about the nature of the investigation.
