Elderly man dies after his car and a van collide in Kerry

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 70s, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene.

A MAN HAS died and three more were injured when a car and a van collided in Kerry this afternoon.

Gardaí in Tralee are investigating the two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R577 between Scartaglen and Ballydesmond at around 3.15 pm today.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 70s, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the second vehicle, a van, were taken to Tralee General Hospital with injuries described as minor.

This stretch of road is currently closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
