People are paying tribute to a much loved Waterford radio journalist who has died

Kevin Casey was the sports editor at WLR FM.

BOTH COLLEAGUES AND listeners are expressing their condolences after the death of a well-known Waterford radio journalist.

Kevin Casey was WLR FM’s sports editor and has died after a short battle with cancer at the age of 40.

He was a multiple award-winning reporter and only last year won a PPI National Radio Award for a touching interview with Waterford hurler Maurice Shananan after the player’s battle with depression.

Casey was originally from Killarney in County Kerry and began working at the local Waterford station 10 years ago.

WLR FM has sent its condolences to his wife Marguerite, his three sons Paul, Mark and James as well as his wider family.
