The new Kia Stonic hits Irish forecourts this month

With an entry price of €18,599 the Kia Stonic undercuts some of its major rivals.

THE ALL-NEW KIA Stonic compact crossover goes on sale in Ireland on 27 October with a starting price of €18,599. This price undercuts the starting price for the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur.

In Ireland, the Stonic will be offered in four trim levels with a choice of three petrol engines and one diesel engine.

Prices will start at €18,599 for Stonic K1 models powered by a four-cylinder 84hp 1.25-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. As standard, the entry-level K1 models will come with 15-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass and front and rear skid plates and a spare wheel. The cabin features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, front and rear USB ports, a leather gear knob and handle, a front armrest, and there is cruise control with speed limiter.

Stonic K2 models come with a six-speed manual gearbox and a choice of a four-cylinder 100hp 1.4-litre petrol or the same four-cylinder 110hp 1.6-litre diesel engine that powers the c’eed.

These models get 17-inch alloys, roof rails, LED daytime running lights, electrically heated and folding wing mirrors, automatic lights, a Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS) and manual air-con. The K2 petrol model starts from €21,099 and the diesel model from €23,099.

The Stonic K3 models get the same powertrain choices as K2 models and additional equipment such as LED rear lights and a chrome belt line as well as a two tone leather interior with heated front seats, sat-nav, DAB radio, a rear view camera and an electrochromic rear-view mirror.

K3 models also come with Kia’s Drive Wise Advanced Driver Systems (ADAS) for further safety, which include features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition, Blind Spot detection and Forward Collision Alert, among others. K3 models can be had with a two tone roof and interior trim personalisation. Petrol models start from €22,599 and diesels from €24,599.

The top of the range K4 models are powered by a three-pot 120hp 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and come with Smart Key, metal pedals, dual automatic air-con with rain sensor and blind spot detector. K4 models also come with the option of two tone roof and interior trim personalisation. K4 models are priced from €24,599.

In terms of safety, all models come with Electronic Stability Control and Vehicle Stability Management as well as six airbags (driver, passenger, side and curtain) and ISOFIX child-seat anchor points.

And the name? According to Kia, Stonic is a combination of ‘Speedy’ and ‘Tonic’, in reference to the musical scale.
