Young man dies in Kildare road crash

The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman and the Naas to Newbridge lanes of the dual carriageway are currently closed.

A MAN HAS died following a road crash in Naas in the early hours of this morning with the incident being referred to the Garda Ombudsman.

The man in his mid-20s was involved a two car collision on the Naas to Newbridge R455 dual carriageway at around 3.20am this morning.

It is understood that there was a garda pursuit on the road but there are currently no details on the nature of the collision.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Naas to Newbridge lanes of the R445 dual carriageway are currently closed to traffic.

The matter was referred to the Ombudsman by the Garda Commissioner under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005.

GSOC (Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission) investigators are currently at the scene.
