Leopard mauls six people after sneaking into Indian school

The animal is thought to have strayed from a forest area close to the school.

A YOUNG LEOPARD injured six people yesterday after entering a school in the Indian city of Bangalore.

The leopard was captured on CCTV footage roaming through the halls of Vibgyor High School before attacking a man near a swimming pool.

Local media reported that a scientist and forestry employee were among those injured while trying to corner the animal.

A cameraman from a regional media outlet was also mauled after trying to get shots on the grounds of the school.

“It was a long struggle to capture the leopard,” police officer S Boralingaiah told reporters.

Although it was injected with tranquilisers it could be captured only around 8.15 pm when the medication took full effect.

The animal was taken to a sanctuary following a nearly 10-hour long effort to catch him.
