Second man dies after horror smash between car and van in Limerick

The driver has now died after the passenger died on Tuesday.

A SECOND MAN has now died after a car crashed into a van in Limerick earlier this week.

The man who died today was the driver of the car and was aged in his 20s. Another man, aged 28 years old, was an occupant in the car and he died in hospital in the hours after the crash.

The crash occurred at about 7.30pm on Hyde Road in Limerick city on Tuesday evening.

The car is understood to have been driving on the wrong side of the road when the crash happened.

A 40-year-old father and his five-year-old daughter were travelling in the van at the time but avoided serious injury.

The driver of the car was taken to University Hospital Limerick after the crash. Gardaí have now said that he has died.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to contact gardaí.
