A FIRE AT a scrap metal facility is pushing smoke across Limerick city.

The fire broke out earlier today in the Crossagalla Business Park in the city.

Crews from Limerick Fire Service are currently in attendance at the fire on Ballysimon Road.

Five units from Limerick City are attending, along with backup from Limerick county. Smoke can be seen across the city and the fire service is advising members of the public to avoid the area.

Nearby residents are also being asked to close their windows.

The smoke and emergency service activity is having knock-on effects on traffic, causing congestion.
