Man's car rammed and money taken from him after Limerick casino win

Four people – two men and two women – were arrested in connection with the incident yesterday.

GARDAÍ IN LIMERICK are investigating a robbery and an assault on a man in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It is understood the man, who is aged in his 30s, had just left casino having won an amount of money and his car was rammed and forced off the road on the N20 at around 1.40am.

Gardaí said he was threatened at knife-point and a sum of money was taken from the man. He was removed to Limerick Regional Hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been released.

Four people – two men and two women – were arrested yesterday afternoon in follow-up searches in connection with the incident and two cars were seized.

Two of the men, aged 25 and 31-years-old are currently detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station and the two women, aged 28 and 31-years-old were taken to Henry St Garda Station, where one is still being held this morning. The other woman was released yesterday afternoon.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
