Man charged after gunman shoots another man from a bicycle in Limerick

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon.

A MAN IS due in court in Limerick today in connection with a shooting in which a gunman shot another man from a bicycle.

The incident happened shortly after 2pm on Saturday at Hyde Road  when the lone man discharged a firearm and injured another 42-year-old man.

The man had shot the weapon after approaching the premises on a bicycle with the injured man taken to Limerick University Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Later, gardaí arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the incident and also recovered a firearm and ammunition.

The 22-year-old has been held at Roxboro Garda Station and will appear at a sitting of Limerick District Court 2pm this afternoon.
