Young boy in Limerick died from viral infection

Gardaí are investigating the death.

GARDAÍ ARE TREATING the death of a toddler in Limerick over the weekend as not suspicious.

It is understood a post-mortem carried out yesterday revealed the cause of death as a viral infection.

The body of the two-year-old boy was found at an apartment in Limerick on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí were called to the address on Parnell Street following an alert from emergency services.

The two-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to University Hospital Limerick.
