Pregnant woman loses baby after being kicked and stamped in stomach by two men

The 21-year-old was 32 weeks pregnant.

A WOMAN 32 weeks pregnant has lost her baby after being kicked and stamped repeatedly in the stomach in a ‘vile and abhorrent’ London attack.

The 21-year-old woman was walking in the Peckham area on Monday evening when she was approached by two men wearing motorbike helmets.

Met Police say the two men pushed her to the ground and continually kicked and stamped on her stomach before running off.

A passer-by helped the injured woman and administered first-aid before she was taken to a south London hospital.

The unborn child could not be saved by doctors while the young woman remains in a critical condition in intensive care.

“This was a truly abhorrent and vile attack on a heavily pregnant woman who has now, tragically, lost her baby,” according to homicide detective Robert Pack.

The men who attacked her must have known the impact their actions would have when they kicked her repeatedly in the stomach. It is sickening to think someone would deliberately target a pregnant woman in this way.

Police say that they two men were black and are aged in their 20s. They ran off in the direction of Denmark Road after the 8pm attack still wearing their helmets.

A 20-year man was arrested on Tuesday and is still being held.

“The suspects were distinctive in their crash helmets and we would appeal for anyone who saw them, either before the attack or running from the scene, to please come forward and contact us,” Pack said.
