London tube station closed after suspect package discovered

Police have carried out a controlled explosion and say the incident has now been stood down.

A TUBE STATION in London was evacuated this evening after a suspect package was discovered.

Metropolitan Police confirmed that a controlled explosion was carried out.

It says the incident has now been stood down.

Earlier, Transport for London confirmed that police cordoned off Angel station to investigate a security alert outside the station.

Some people in the area took to social media to share photos and report that they heard a loud bang.
